Charles Ray Jackson, “Ray” was born to the parentage of Nora E. Jackson and Charles R. Jackson Sr. on the 21st day of August in 1958 in Dallas, Texas. Ray attended and received his formal education from Dallas Independent School District. Ray accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of the late Rev. E. E. Pope, the Pastor of Bright and Morning Star Baptist Church. Later in life, Ray became a member of New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late, Rev. Gregory L. Price. Ray was proceeded in death by his mother, Nora E. Jackson; father, Charles Ray Jackson, Sr.; step father, John L. (Odell) Williams; step mother, Pearlie Gillis; wife, Linda Kelly; son, Charles Ray Chappel-Jackson, Jr (Ping); one step daughter, Donna Smith, three brothers, John Henry Chandler, Gerald Lewis Jackson, James Andrew Jackson; one sister, Carolyn Jackson; grandmothers, Nettie B. Chandler and Ocie Jackson; grandfathers, John W. Chandler and Phenol Jackson, Sr and a nephew, Gerald Jermaine Jackson. Ray thought he was a comedian, always instigating, agitating and aggravating, these were some of is his favorite past times, he loved to laugh. Ray had a passion for family, he spent a lot of time with his grand-children and great grand-children; Rashad was his righthand man. He often made funny little nicknames for his nieces and nephews. His favorite hobbies included junking, playing the lottery and watching football, his favorite team was non other than, the Dallas Cowboys. Any day of the week, Ray always would be seen sporting a pair of Converse, “Chuck Taylors” to be exact. He leaves to cherish his memories: daughter, Rachel ”Big Baby” Chappel-Trotter(Shy Trotter); son, Marcus Kelley; grandchildren, Renee’ “Turtle-Head” Majors-Chappel, Nagarious “Turtle” Demmings, DeAmber Smith, Quantavion “Woo” King; great grandchildren, Rashad Chappel, Ri’Anna Chappel, NeRya Demmings, Ne’Miya Demmings, Ayren Demmings, Ahmir Demmings, Demi Hartfield, Kayden Stokely, Marquis “King“Chappel; three sisters, Lenora Moses, Shirley Jackson, and Amme Williams-Minor (Mike D); three brothers, Michael Jackson (LaDonna), Darryl Jackson (Cutrice), John L. Jackson (Christina) and sister in laws, Debbie Jackson, Betty Ann Chappel, Carolyn Sue Chappel; step sisters, Carolyn Gillis and Debra Comeaux; step brothers, Alvin Gillis (Brenda) and Gary Gillis a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends .
