JAMES CASTEEL

May 26, 1972 — July 28, 2018

Loving family man, constant joker, Cowboys fan and loyal friend, James Earl Casteel II (aka Kooky), 46, of Dallas, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on July 28, 2018. He was born in Dallas, Texas on March 26, 1972 to Linda Casteel (Jones) and James Earl Casteel.

James was a larger-than-life persona who loved to make his family, friends and coworkers laugh on a daily basis. Known for his love of all things Cowboys and Marvel (Deadpool) related, and fear of fur animal costumes (i.e. Easter bunny), James was our favorite IT nerd. At a young age, you could find him taking computers apart to figure out how they worked and then putting them back together again. He was so passionate about it that he decided to make a career of it and was recently awarded the OSV Values Winner from his job at Onesource Virtual.

On August, 3, 1991, James married the love of his life, Stacy (Williams) Casteel.  From their young, crazy love they welcomed two amazing daughters, Semaj Casteel and Alexandria Casteel. One thing we know for sure is that he loved his wife and children with all of his heart. Although he is gone, we know his love of family and friendship, trademark stubbornness, and enjoyment of cruises will live on through them.

If you knew James, you knew that as much as he loved his family and friends, his love for his dogs was even greater. There’s no denying that his dogs were his other kids. Tiffany, Sicario and Cardi will miss him dearly, but they know he is reunited in heaven with his main road dog/BFF, Diesel.

Let’s be honest, the world is better for his having lived and we are better for having known him. Though his life may have ended too soon, it was a life complete in so many ways.

James is survived by his wife Stacy Casteel and daughters Semaj Casteel and Alexandria Casteel; parents Linda Casteel and James Casteel; sisters Kaila Casteel and Shaterri Casteel; mother-in-law Pamela Stearns; sister-in-laws Elizabeth Williams and Lacresia Williams; brother-in-law Anton Williams; niece Jada Wess; best friend Charles Medlin; three godsons Braylen Gillespie, Izzy DePlaza and Calen Edwards; pups Tiffany, Sicario, and Cardi; and so many other people who called him friend, nephew, cousin, and coworker. He will be truly missed.

To honor him, the family will host a celebration of life ceremony at 11:00am on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas.
