Wednesday, June 5, 1929, in the small community of Water’s Bluff, Winona, TX, Jesse and Dora (Choice) White welcomed their 4th child and daughter, Jessie Lee.
Jessie received her formal education from the Winona School District. Along with her family, Jessie served her Savior and Lord at Water’s Bluff CME Church.
In 1948 the Tyler (East Texas) Fair had more than its usual attractions, as the main attraction was Jessie meeting the love of her life, US Air Force Staff Sgt. Aaron Manning. They were married on Tuesday, May 10, 1950, in Tyler, TX by Justice of the Peace Johnson. Jessie and Aaron were blessed with three beautiful children – Franklin Delano, Julia Ann and Sharon Marie. Aaron, Franklin and Julia predeceased her.
During the very early 1960’s Jessie, Aaron, Julia and Sharon relocated from Tyler to Dallas. It was 1963 that they made their family home on Talco Drive where Jessie resided until her call to reward.
Upon moving to Dallas, Jessie embarked upon a long-term and impactful career as a Domestic Engineer until her well-deserved retirement in 2008. Jessie was not only faithful in her walk with the Lord, but also faithful in her service at His house as a doorkeeper, first at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor J. J. Bell, and then later at Jordan Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor R. M. Robertson, where Jessie was also Vice-President of Usher Board #2. As her health declined, via watch care, Jessie began attending Greater Mt Hebron Missionary Baptist Church (presently Greater Mt Hebron Bible Church) under the leadership of Pastor Fred Conwright, Sr.
On Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at 7:35am, the Lord in His infinite wisdom called Jessie from sickness and suffering to her heavenly reward. Awaiting her arrival, along with her husband and children were her parents, brothers: Earl White, Frank White, Jesse James White, Sr and Jimmy White; and sisters: Fannie White Pullum, Annie Lee White Redwine, Eva White Brown and Peggy White Rose.
