LORETTA WOODSON

March 31, 1948 — August 21, 2020

Her Story

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend; Loretta Louis Woodson was born March 31. 1948 in Dallas, TX., to Pauline Owens and Johnny Brown.

Loretta began her spiritual walk in 1976 and was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost at Full Gospel Holy Temple under the leadership of the late Apostle Lobias Murray and Dr. Shirley Murray. She remained an active, dedicated and faithful member of FGHT for 41 years, now under the current leadership of Apostle Herman Murray and Lady Danielle Murray, until her health began to decline.

In 1968 Loretta met and married Lynn Woodson and to their union two children were born.

Loretta knew very early in life that she had a passion for helping and education children, so after graduating from L.G. Pinkston High School in 1965 she enrolled at Eastfield College, where she later graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education. She was employed at Texas Instruments for a number of years before she began teaching at Lobias Murray Christian Academy. Loretta served as a lead teacher for Dallas Independent  School District for six years and was a foster parent from 1999-2016, caring for over 200 children. Loretta was so very proud of all her accomplishments but the one she was most proud of was successfully owning and operating her very own Childcare Center for over forty years, which she named, “Te’Shay’s Playhouse”.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Pauline Bush, and her brother, Milton Owens Sr., who were both faithful members of Full Gospel Holy Temple and her father, Johnny Brown.

She leaves to cherish her memories; three daughters, Valerie Hardnett, (Greg) Tondra Dennis (Leroy) and Shanya Woodson. One son, Joshua Woodson, six grandchildren, Adrinia, Stefon, James Jr., Harvey, Joshual, Tondric and JaNarian. Six great-grandchildren; Kingston, Ara, Nia, Kaidence, Ezekiel and Takyri. One brother; Wendell Owens (Lela), foster sister, Margie Tenison, one aunt, Corean Cole and one special cousin Forestal Lawton.
