PATRICIA FRANCIS

April 30, 1951 — February 21, 2021

Patricia Louise, a devoted wife, loving mother, and eldest sister, was born April 30, 1951 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Erma Jean Carroll and Robert Chism.

Later Mother Baker met and married Jethro Baker, who was affectionately known as “Daddy”, raised Patricia as his own. Pat, as she was so preciously called, began her academic journey in Little Rock and they later moved to Dallas, Texas in 1962.

In Dallas, she attended Pearl C. Anderson Middle and James Madison High School where she graduated with honors, class of 1969. She was very active in high school, a captain of the majorettes and twirling baton teams, French horn player in the marching band, and a member of various “Glee” clubs.

After graduation she attended Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins Texas where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Education and later continued her education at Bishop College in Dallas, Texas.

Pat was baptized by her uncle, the late Rev. Jack Carroll, founder of Greater Ann Arbor Missionary Baptist Church which later became Outreach Missionary Baptist church, where she was an active member until she relocated to Orange County, California.

Pat began her career as a special education teacher within the Wilmer Hutchins school district where she was especially attentive and compassionate in working with her students. Pat loved extracurricular duties as a coach and sponsor for the majorette and drill teams for the renowned Wilmer Hutchins High School Marching Band, helping the teams and band to win many awards and competitions, which include Battle of the Bands and state UIL meets.

Pat met Roy Francis at the Naval Air Station in Grand Prairie. She and Roy have been blissfully married and committed to loving and taking care of their family for over 4o years until God called her home. Pat and Roy moved their family to Orange County, California. She continued her career in education and then transitioned to the Federal Government where she worked in the Department of Defense until retiring in 2017. Pat was very active in her church and other organizations. She was committed to serving others as well as her family. She attended Mt.

Moriah Christian Church of San Diego, California under the leadership of Pastor, LJ Thomas, currently pastored by Dr. Gerald Brown, until her health began to fail, and she was unable to attend. There she served as Deacon, an active member of the Financial and Baccalaureate Ministries, and the Investment Club for Women. Patricia was also a member and the president of the San Diego Alumni Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Incorporated. She lived life to the fullest all while helping and giving of herself and her time to ensure the

happiness of others.

Patricia transitioned to her heavenly home on February 21, 2021 to reunite with her Dad, Jethro Baker.

Patricia leaves to cherish precious memories; her loving and dedicated husband Roy, children: Marshall (Kimberley), Jeaniqua, and Rosie (Justin) and grandson, Marshall III. She also leaves her loving mother, Erma Jean Baker, siblings, Dwight, Jeffery (Gin), Evette (Anthony), Reginald (Jackie), Twanna (James), Andre (Demetria); Uncle, Rev. Edgar Carroll Sr. (Lynda) and Aunt Ella Faye; mother-in-law Rosebell, brothers-in-law Norman and Donald, sisters-in-law Jasmin, Cleo (Randy), and Martha along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and special loved ones that will miss her contagious smile and generous heart
