Sylvester Scott Sr. was born to the parentage of Carney Bell Scott and Myrite Potts Scott on October 8, 1941 in Franklin, Texas. He was preceded in death by both parents.
Sylvester Scott Sr. received his childhood education in Ellis County Public School District. He grew up in Italy, TX.
He met and married Pearl E. Miller on July 16, 1962 and to this union four children.
He was also preceded in death his wife, Pearl E. Scott, one daughter, Lavern Scott, three brothers, Maxie Young, Joe Scott, Carney B. Scott Jr. all preceded in death.
Sylvester Scott Sr. worked as a farmer/pulled cotton and was a truck driver in his younger life.
Sylvester Scott Sr. came from a family of music. Him and his brother performed acts for B. B. King, Bobby Blue Bland, Johnny Taylor as “open entertainers”.
Music in his family was introduced by his cousins, Marilyn McCoo of the 5th Dimension, Johnny Nash: I can see clearly now the rain is gone both of Houston, TX.
Sylvester Scott Sr. leaves to cherish his memories: three daughters, Fontella Scott, Silvia Turner (Ray Turner), Adrian Walker; two sons, Sylvester Scott Jr. (Ericka Scott) and Victor Rockmore (Betty Rockmore); three sisters-in-law, Patrica Smith, Loberta Scott, Annie Young; one brother-in-law, Robert Ransom all of Texas; twenty grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; a host of family and friends.
