Abel “Tee” Torres was born in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico on September 11, 1957 to the late Epifania and Cesar Torres, both Puerto Ricans, while the family was on vacation on the island. Abel was raised in lower east side of Manhattan, New York City where he completed all the levels of basic education. Upon graduating from high school “Tee” continued his education at the University of Kentucky for engineering with a basketball scholarship. Shortly after he enlisted and served in the United States Air Force at Altus AFB. After he finished serving his time in the Air Force, he worked for the railroad. Upon relocating to Texas, he was employed with Siemens as a mechanical engineer for 18 years.
He was united in matrimony to Margaret A. Hill (Oklahoma) and to their union they shared four children, Veronica, Dominique, Nicole and Joshua.
He departed this life on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, brother, Freddy Torres of New Jersey and daughter, Veronica of DeSoto, TX.
He leaves to cherish his memories: Cynthia Holmes of Mesquite, TX; daughters, Dominique and Nicole Torres of Lawton, OK; son, Joshua Torres of Oklahoma City, OK; brother, Cesar Torres Jr. (Elizabeth) of Kentucky; sister, Lilly Rosario (Angel) of Puerto Rico; grandchildren, Amaris, Nimiya, Xzavier, Brielle and Serenity; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
