Avilus L. K. Hawthorne affectionately known as 'AV' was born on Monday, August 2, 1982 to Antionette Hawthorne.
Avilus was a product of the Dallas Schools where he attended St. Anthony Catholic School and John XXIII Catholic School from PreK-8 grades, which were the beginnings of his faith and spiritual nurturing. He graduated from DeSoto High School.
Avilus' Military Career began in 2000. While in the military, he completed his higher learning education earning a Bachelor of Administration (BA) Degree in Computer Science and worked for over four years as an Information System Operator. His tour of duty also included him being deployed to Iraq. As a commissioned Sargent in the United States Army, Avilus received numerous decorations, awards, medals, and citations including the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism, and the Expeditionary Medal just to name a few! He concluded his full term of active service of valor and honor in 2007.
Genesis 33:12 states "And he said, let us take our journey, and let us go, and I will go before thee. " The Christian life is often compared to a journey. Avilus began his journey by taking Christ as his Lord and Savior as his traveling companion through life at an early age. While on this journey, he stopped along the road to appreciate the experience of each new day, new blessings, new mercies, and richer grace. He faithfully followed in the footsteps of the righteous by freely giving his time, energy, and service as a volunteer and being actively involved in church. He loved movies, sports, and was an avid Dallas Cowboy's fan.
On Sunday, March 28, 2021, his life's journey ended, and he entered eternal rest.
Avilus' wit, humor, and infectious laughter will be missed by all who knew him. His precious memories will be remembered and cherished by his loving Mother, Antionette Hawthorne; Brother Darrion Hawthorne; Grandmother, Ruby L. Hawthorne; Aunts, Linda Hawthorne Roberson, Yolanda R. Hawthorne, Stephanie
