B. G. Gipson was born May 5, 1931 to Booker and Alma Gipson. He was the youngest of four siblings; two brothers, Tellford Gipson and H.B. Gipson; 2 sisters, Mildred Gipson, (who have preceded him in his celebration) and Naomi Gipson.
B.G. graduated from Lincoln High School in Dallas Texas. He later met and married the love of his life Betty Lou Gipson on 00/00/0000. The beautiful start of their loving family began shortly after. B.G. served in the U.S
B.G and Betty Lou Gipson were the proud owners of Gipsonâs Grocery for 58 years. Being the achiever he was, in 1955 B.G. owned and operated the first black owned grocery store in 1955 in the West Dallas area. B.G. was known for making his customers laugh and smile with his fun loving comedic and energetic spirit. While he was a very strong and proud man, he was also very caring and giving. B.G. and his wife Betty often assisted their loyal customers during times of financial hardship. They wanted to ensure their customers were able to feed themselves and their families. B.G. was extremely passionate in encouraging and motivating others to work hard and strive to create a better future for themselves and their families. He promoted and inspired others to follow in his footsteps in becoming entrepreneurs as he eagerly shared his knowledge and wisdom during his long standing career as successful business owner. B. G. Gipson was a beloved leader in his family and the community, he was indeed a legend and a great man.
On Friday July 15 at 9:58 a.m. the Lord called our Angel home, he answered his call. He opened the Heavenly gate, and the whirlwind swept him in. And this is where the celebration begins when the Lord and Angels welcomed him in as a new being in the heavenly host where he also rejoined his loving wife Betty.
Those he left to celebrate his legacy are his four daughters, Sylvia Gipson, Deborah Gipson, Reginner Gipson-Randle (Gary) and Stephnie Gipson-Turner (Claudel); two sons, DeWayne Gipson (Rosa) and Gregory Gipson who preceded him in his celebration. He had 10 grandchildren; Antonia, DeWayne, Jr., LeToyiah, Count Jamar, Gabriel, Gregory, Jr. Sydneeâ, Toddrique, Ronald and Keysha who preceded him in his celebration. He had 4 great-grandchildren, Keosha, Andrea, Jade, and Jakobi Gipson, who preceded him in his celebration. He had 6 great-great-grandchildren. His love and his legacy leaves a host of other relatives and friends.
