BARBARA STARKS

July 12, 1963 — January 7, 2021

Barbara Ann Walker Starks lived a blessed life. She was born on July 12, 1963, the youngest child of Clarence and Dorothy Walker. She shared her childhood with her 2 brothers and 2 sisters in Wichita, Kansas. As a young girl she moved to Fort Worth, Texas and enjoyed her formative years living with her father and stepmother, Lillie Mae Walker. After attending Eastern Hills High School, Barbara embarked on a long career in Retail Sales, meeting interesting people and forming lifelong friendships along the way. Barbara married Randy Sanders and to this union, her three precious sons, DeMarco, Ricky and Randy were born. In 1996, Barbara married Anthony (Tony) Starks, the love of her life, whom she adored and shared many lasting memories along with her bonus daughters, Nia Starks and Arnisha Ratliff. Barbara always had a smile on her face although sometimes not feeling her best. Even with her numerous health challenges, one of her favorite sayings was “Blessed to see another day that wasn’t promised to me.” Barbara was an excellent thrift shopper and she enjoyed sharing her unique findings with her family and friends. She also loved cooking and took pleasure in preparing meals for her family. At a young age, Barbara made the decision to accept Jesus Christ into her life. She united with Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where her devotion to her church was manifested with her involvement in the Women’s Ministry and Vacation Bible School. She also shared her gift of hospitality in the Culinary Ministry. Barbara was a willing worker and her gifts and talents will be missed by all who loved her. Barbara gained her wings and departed this life on January 7, 2021. Preceding her in death were her parents, sisters, Marsha Blue, Kathy Walker; brothers, Marvin Walker, Jerry Walker. Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Tony Starks; sons DeMarco Sanders, Ricky Sanders, Randy (Elizabeth) Sanders; daughters, Nia Starks, Arnisha Ratliff; seven (7) grandchildren; stepmother, Lillie Mae Walker; sisters Carolyn Jones, Kay Keaton; brothers Anthony Washington, Andrew Byrd, Jr., James Byrd; brother-in law, Michael Starks (Shontae); and an abundance of extended family and friends.
