Barbara Temple, beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, transitioned peacefully to her new home on May 9, 2024. Born on August 29, 1948, in Shreveport, LA, to James and Bertha Maple, she lived a life full of love, devotion, and service.
She embarked on her journey through life after graduating from Killeen High School in Killeen, TX, where she laid the foundation for a life of integrity and compassion. In July 1968, she entered into a union of marriage and was blessed with a daughter, Denise Temple.
Throughout her career, she showcased her talents and dedication in various roles, leaving a mark of excellence wherever she went. From Southwestern Bell in Killeen to GTE at DFW Airport, and later at Johnson Wax, her hard work and commitment were evident to all who knew her. It was in Wisconsin, at SC Johnson & Sons, where she achieved remarkable success and earned several prestigious awards before retiring in 2007 and returning to her beloved Arlington, TX.
A woman of faith from an early age, she found solace and strength in her relationship with Christ. Her spiritual journey led her to embrace the fellowship of Marlboro Baptist Church in Killeen, Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Arlington, St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Racine, WI, and back to Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Arlington.
In addition to her professional and spiritual pursuits, Barbara was a loyal lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, cheering on her team through every season. Her devotion to America’s team was evident in every game day, where she could be found cheering passionately, clad in the team's colors, and celebrating every victory.
In her passing, she was reunited with her parents, James and Bertha Maple, her great-granddaughter, Gabriella Temple, and her sister-in-law, Terese Maple. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, cherished by her siblings, Louis Maple of Arlington, TX, Bruce Maple (Rose) of Grand Prairie, TX, and June Thompson (Gary) of Arlington, TX, her daughter, Denise Temple of Temple Hills, MD, her aunt, Minnie Jean "BaeBae" Williams of Shreveport, LA, her grandchildren, Vaniah Temple, Melchizedek Temple (Chanell), Lalibela Akingbade (Joshua), and Saraswati Temple, as well as her great-grandchildren, Ariella, Ade, and Israel.
