BETTY EBRON

October 31, 1940 — January 20, 2022

Betty Jean Ebron was born on October 31, 1940 in Eudora, Arkansas. She departed this life on January 20, 2022 after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her mother Selena Palmer Ebron (“Leno”), father Wesley Ebron, grandmother Annie Matthews (“Granny”), and sister Gail Ebron (“Maw Maw”).

Betty is survived by: daughters Erania Ebron of Houston, Texas; and, Monique Wilson of Hickory Creek, Texas; Sister Verdell Solomon of New Orleans, Louisiana; Granddaughters Renique Erania, Tatayanna and Emily; Grandsons Tyrone, Kitoye and William; Great-granddaughter Kennedy, Great-grandsons Khalil and Kaden; nieces Deontrinise, Jada and Marlo; nephews Quincy and Thames; great-niece Mia; great-nephews Tyrone, Thaddeus, Taiwan and Trajoan; great-great nephew Trophy and a host of other loved ones and friends.

Betty, who was referred to as “Yaya” by her grandchildren, graduated from George Washington Carver Senior High School.  She enjoyed a lengthy position as Resident Manager of the Olympus Apartments in New Orleans, Louisiana.  She retired from that position and relocated to Lewisville, Texas in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina.  Prior to that time, she worked as one of the first female “water boys” on the New Orleans riverfront, worked for Walle Corporation making food product labels and as a nurse’s assistant at Charity Hospital in New Orleans.

Betty was saved and enjoyed listening to the bible and sermons in her final days. She adored all sports and loved discussing the players and game statistics. She will be remembered as a doting mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a cherished friend. She was always willing to share whatever she had with anyone in need.  Even while in declining health, she touched the hearts of the hospital and hospice staff.  She will be sorely missed.
