Billy Wayne Secrease Sr., a beloved mechanic, passed away on December 17, 2023, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love. Born on February 5, 1948, in Dallas, TX, Billy was the son of Luther Walker and Ethel Mae Secrease. He grew up alongside his five siblings.

From an early age, it was clear that Billy possessed a distinctive and expressive personality. He had an incredible sense of humor and was known for his ability to captivate an audience with his storytelling skills. Outgoing and charismatic, Billy effortlessly became the life of every party he attended. His intelligence added depth to his character, making him a truly remarkable individual.

After graduating from Roosevelt High School, Billy entered the military and served two tours in Vietnam. His military service was a testament to his patriotism and desire to make a difference in the world. He carried the values instilled in him during those years throughout his life. After serving in the United States Army from 1966 to 1971, Billy embarked on a fulfilling career as a mechanic. He dedicated himself to his craft with unwavering passion and skill, becoming renowned for his expertise in the field. Colleagues admired his work ethic and commitment to ensuring that every vehicle he touched operated at its best.

Outside of work and military endeavors, Billy found great joy and solace in several hobbies and interests. He had a deep love for horses and reveled in cowboy culture. The twang of country music resonated with him deeply, transporting him to worlds filled with nostalgia and emotion. Fishing provided moments of tranquility amidst the busyness of life, allowing him to connect with nature on a profound level.

Yet above all else, Billy's proudest accomplishment was his children. He shared precious years with Patsy Secrease as they nurtured their family together. Rodney Secrease, Tamiska Secrease-Williams, and Billy Secrease Jr. were his pride and joy — blessings that brought immeasurable happiness into his life.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents Luther Walker and Ethel Mae Secrease, his sister Ethelene Thompson, his brother Eddie Earl Secrease, as well as his favorite Aunt Eddie Mae Secrease. Billy will forever be remembered by his surviving family and friends. Patsy, his ex-wife, will carry the memories of their time together close to her heart. Rodney (Julie), Tamiska (Ricky), Billy Jr. (Typhanie), will honor their beloved father. While Mary, Carolyn, and Elisha will honor their beloved brother, and by treasuring the love he bestowed upon them.

In addition to his and immediate family, Billy leaves behind a legacy of seven grandchildren: Julian, Jasmine, Titiana, Daniel, De'Ani, Jordan, and Bayleigh, four great-grandchildren — Jaiden, Jaidah, Kylie, and K'Ari — represent the continuation of Billy's lineage and bring warmth to the hearts of those who hold him dear.

Billy's departure has left a void in the lives of all who knew him. But as we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate the extraordinary man he was—the laughter he shared with us generates warmth that will never fade away. His kindness and vibrant spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
