Bobby was born April 07, 1937, to the parentage of Andrew and Lena M. Mays-Ailey. They both preceded him in death.

Unknowingly to him he met his wife to be when they were young teens. In 1964 he married Shirley Watson Poole. They were married for almost fifty-two years. Three children: Billy Ailey of Dallas, Tx., Bobby D. Ailey (Misty) of Arlington, Tx, Sherlena Ailey-Love (Jerry) of Cedar Hill, Tx.,Grandchildren, Cheketha, Jacorey, Monique, Shanice, Bobby D. Ailey, Jr. (Samantha) and seven great-grandchildren. Best friend Deacon Vernon Lucky of Dallas. Very special friends Isaac and LaSharion McClellan and Paula Rathers. One sister-in-law, Glory Lacy of Dallas, six brothers-in-law, Richard (Ira), Roosevelt, Larry, Isaiah (Ethelyn) and Billy Wayne (Anita), Bobby R. and a host of other relatives and friends.

In 1983 he became a member of Bon Air Missionary Baptist Church. He was a deacon, a faithful member of Church School and Brotherhood. He retired from Commercial Construction after 17 years. Then he drove for Taxi Dallas, and on to work for Nations Bank and DISD school crossing.
