Bro. Boston Hawkins, Jr., was born March 22, 1942, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Born to the parentage of Boston Sr. and Mary Hawkins, he grew up in and around the church all of his life. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School of Shreveport, Louisiana, and shortly thereafter married the love of his life, Loretta Cook. The newlywed couple moved to Dallas, Texas, and raised their four children: Michelle, Tyrone, Antionette, and Paul. Bro. Hawkins worked for over 30 years in the construction industry before retiring.
Bro. Hawkins’ spiritual life was one to be admired. He was reared in the church, and served as deacon for many years at New Jerusalem Institutional Baptist Church. Bro. Hawkins would later serve as chairman of Deacons at Temple Missionary Baptist Church. He was a vital member of the church’s ministry, and was always willing to share advice based on the Word of God.
Bro. Hawkins finished this course of life on May 12, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Boston Sr. and Mary Hawkins, and sister, “Little” Lillie Hawkins.
He leaves to cherish his memories and live his legacy: a loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Loretta Hawkins; four children, Michelle Sterling, Tyrone Hawkins, Antionette Hawkins and Paul Hawkins (Loraine); seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives, and the Temple Missionary Baptist Church family.
