BRADY SANDLES

June 22, 1930 — March 6, 2022

Brady Edward Sandles, known as “Son” by his family, was born on June 22, 1930, in Huntsville, Texas. He was the fourth child born to John “Edd'' and Bertha Archie Sandles.

While very young, his family later relocated to Limestone County, Texas, where he attended Mustang Elementary School and Woodland High School.  He gave his life to Christ at an early age, and his fellowship began with the Mustang Baptist Church in Prairie Hill, Texas, under the Pastoral leadership of the late Rev. G.B. Booker.

Brady was then drafted into the United States Army and worked as a cook while serving in the Korean War. He received an honorable discharge and returned to his hometown in Mexia, Texas. He later relocated to Dallas, Texas, became a member at Hamilton Baptist Church, and served as a deacon. In 1965, he joined Golden Gate Baptist Church, where he met and married Cutie Lee Jackson. The pair held a journey that consisted of the love of God, family, and each other. Their love endured for 50 years. He sang in the Male Chorus, served on the Usher Board, and was also a proud member of the City-Wide Brotherhood. The Lord later led him to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church which he continued to serve until his health failed up to his death.

He worked for Garden Denver for several years as a professional welder until the company closed. Following he was employed and retired with the USPS. Being the man he was, he likes to keep busy. He got on with DISD as a bus driver which he loved for another twelve years. Brady enjoyed welding, doing yard work and he also enjoyed building and refurbishing furniture. In addition, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

On March 6, 2022, the Lord called his angels to carry him to his eternal home. He was preceded in death by his wife Cutie Lee Jackson-Sandles; stepson Donald Ray Watkins; parents John (EDD) and Bertha Sandles; two sisters Jane Estrada and Mattie Dunn; and two brothers George and Stanley Sandles.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories: his children and stepchildren Betty Sandles-Artis, Clarence Sandles, Jacquelyn Sandles-Jackson, Charles Watkins, and Phyllis Thurman; goddaughter, Norma B. Kelley; eight grandchildren Corey Artis (Tonya), George Artis II, Johnathan Artis (Maisha), Patrinia Sandles-Bakesmaty (Leslie), Christopher Sandles (Rebecca), Justin Jackson (Alexandria), Shaimariah Jackson, and Tyishonah Mitchell; 13 great-grandchildren. He also leaves to cherish his brothers Robert Sandles of Sacramento CA, Paul Ray Sandles (Beverly) of Richmond, CA, Rev. Joe Sandles (Verlin) of Mesa, AZ, Claude Sandles ( Dorothy Helen) of Coolidge, TX, Walter Sandles (Bobbie) of Richmond, CA, and James Sandles (Marilyn) of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
