Calvin Vincent Walker was born on July 26, 1959, in Des Moines, Iowa to Joe and Mae Helen Harrington. He was adopted and reared by Willie V. and Mary Walker.
Calvin accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age but reaffirmed his faith while attending, The Church Without Walls in Houston, TX.
He attended Theodore Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, Iowa where he was on the schools’ track team called, “The Fire Riders.”
He studied Business Administration at Des Moines Area Community College.
To his friends and family, Calvin was loving, hardworking, outgoing, hilarious, a great singer, THE flyest dresser, a cologne connoisseur AND could throw down in the kitchen like nobody’s business. When people would meet Calvin, they were in for some good company, great food, awesome stories, and not to mention jokes that will have you in stitches. He loved all genres of music and sharing that love with others. He did not meet a stranger and always made sure everyone felt welcomed!
Anywhere Calvin was, was a good time!
He was a loving father, Godfather, brother, son, uncle, cousin, and friend.
Calvin was a proud father of two daughters, Tykishia Griffith and Keisha Brown.
Calvin was a father figure to Devario Davis, Georgio Walker, and Harlan Simon.
Calvin leaves the following siblings to cherish his memory: Terri Woods-Shorter, Zerena Gales, Mary Ann Harrington, Kimberly Spellman, Mildred Harrington, Robert Harrington, Horace Harrington, Allen Clay, Archie Walker, Valerie Davis, Harry Davis, and Marvanella (Lewis) Nunn.
Calvin also leaves six grandchildren, Tatavion Griffith, Tatyiana Griffith, Ty’Asia Griffith, Taniyah Griffith, Nickiyah Griffith, and Nakarshe Griffith; three great-grandchildren with one on the way, Odyssey Griffith, Tatavion Griffith Jr., Khias Harper; son-in-law, Gene Brown, his oldest daughter’s fiancé Nick Williams; a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie V. and Mary Walker, Joe and Mae Helen Harrington; siblings, Joe Lewis Clay, Curtis Harrington, Shaunett Clay, Carla Faye Davis, and Natasha Walker; daughter, Jazmine Walker; nephew, Anthony Lucas; stepfather, Thomas Harrington; uncles, Horace Harrington, William Harrington, John Paul Harrington, Allen Harrington, and Richard Harrington; aunts Frankie Lee Williams, and Ruthie Coleman.
