CATHY LYNN LACEY

Cathy Lynn Lacey, born on April 19, 1965, in Los Angeles, California, was a cherished member of her community and family. She attended school in Compton, California, where she laid the foundation for a life filled with love and service. In 1996, Cathy married Theron Lacey, and together they shared 28 beautiful years until her passing on January 12, 2025.

Lynn dedicated many years of her life to Methodist Hospital before retiring. She was a devoted member of Safeway Baptist Church, nurturing her faith under the leadership of Pastor Obie L. Davis. Later, she joined Building the Kingdom Community Church, where her contributions in various roles enriched the congregation.

As the youngest of five siblings, Lynn's family ties were significant to her. She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Charles; father, Eddie Harris; sister, Cassie Childs; and brothers, Eddie Childs and Ewell Sippert.

Cathy is survived by her beloved husband, Theron Lacey, as well as her children: April and Sean of Cedar Hill, Precious of Duncanville, Jameis and Miles of Virginia, Gordon (Shorty) of Duncanville, Darryl of Duncanville, Theron Jr., and Marques. She was also a proud grandmother to ten grandchildren: Brashawn, Jasmyne, Ja’Shawn, Aubre, Cordia, Miles Jr., Aaron, Bailey, Gordon III (G3), and Jaxson. Additionally, her eldest brother, Carl Empy, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and longtime friends, will carry on her memory.

Cathy Lynn Lacey leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and community service that will forever be remembered by those who knew her.
