CEDRIC STRICKLIN

January 21, 1965 — December 31, 2020

Reverend Dr. Pastor Cedric D. Stricklin on January 21, 1965 in Monroe, LA. Born to the parentage of Annie Stricklin-Hampton and Howard Hunt. At a very young age, Lee Daniel Stricklin took on the role as the “Father” he needed in his life. Along with his mother, Annie Stricklin– Hampton, they raised a “Gentle Giant”.

He accepted Christ at the age of 15 years old under the leadership of the late Pastor R.M. Robertson of the Jordan Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. God called him into the ministry in 1983. He graduated from David W. Carter High School in 1983. His motto was: “a call to preach is a call to prepare.” He later graduated from Southern Bible Institute in 1988, he graduated from Criswell College with a bachelor of arts in biblical studies in 1993, he graduated from Criswell College with a master degree in master of divinity in 1996, he graduated from Andersonville Theological Seminary with a doctor of ministry in 2009, and he graduated from Andersonville Theological Seminary with a master of theology in 2010.

In the midst of all of his accomplishments, the greatest one being the founding pastor of the Graceland Community Baptist Church in January 1993 with 13 charter members which was organized and accepted unto at the Exciting Singing Hills Baptist Church, Doctor Howard Anderson, pastor. The Lord continued to bless the church to grow to what it is now at the current location in Cedar Hill, Texas. Pastor Cedric D Stricklin was a godly man of action. He served with a compassionate heart. He believed that you need to love on people. He was a very patient man of God. He was a gentle man of God. He was a people's person. He met no strangers. He loved to talk. He loved to preach, and he said he lived to preach God's Word. His mission was to serve the Lord and that he did. He served faithfully as the founding pastor until his death on December 31, 2020. He was very active in various areas in the city, the state, and this country. He was a past president of the Oak Cliff Baptist Minister Union of Dallas and Vicinity, Vice Moderator, General secretary, dean of the congress and treasurer of the True Fellowship District Association. He served in the State Congress teaching youth for 14 years, and he was the treasurer of the Foreign Mission Board for the National Missionary Baptist Convention of America founded 1880—restoration 1888. He was about his Father’s business.

He was joined in holy matrimony to Beverly Jackson on November 11, 1989. To this union: three sons, Jimmy Rollins, Kendrick Sample and Marcus Stricklin. They have eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Hunt; stepfather, Charles Hampton and infant daughter, Erica Lois Stricklin. He leaves to cherish his memories: to carry on his legacy and cherish his memories: his wife, Beverly Stricklin, sons, Jimmy Rollins (Barbette), Kendrick Sample, and Marcus Stricklin (Raven); mother, Annie Stricklin-Hampton; father, Lee Daniel Stricklin; sister Renee Calhoun (Greg)  brother, Derek Stricklin (Adren); sister, Yvette Hunt-Rover (Morell), sister, Cassandra Hunt (Michael); eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
