CHARLES LEON BREMBRY SR

June 28, 1941 — September 29, 2024

Charles Leon Brembry Sr., a man whose spirit was truly larger than life, departed this world on September 29, 2024, leaving a remarkable legacy cherished by those who had the privilege to know him. Born on June 28, 1941, he lived with a vibrant presence that could light up a room, with his unique blend of humor, blunt honesty, and a fascinating nonchalance that drew friends and family alike into his orbit.

A proud veteran of the Air Force, Charles exhibited a commitment to service that echoed throughout his life. Post-military, he carried his determination and charisma forward, becoming a proud alumnus of Madison High School Class of 1960 and Southern University, a fact that brought him immense pride, as did the achievements of his beloved children and grandchildren. It was through them that Charles found his greatest joy and sense of accomplishment, nurturing a family that thrived under the warmth of his generous spirit.

With a penchant for Sudoku and a profound love for reading the Bible, Charles enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He took delight in teaching Bible study, where his insightful perspectives on faith inspired many. Those who gathered around him at the pool table or during competitive card games knew that he would always bring a touch of wit and challenge to the moment, a testament to his love for connection and fun. In his early years, he even graced the courts with his tennis skills, always eager to engage in friendly competition.

Memories shared by family reflect the depth of their bond; his son recalls the time Charles moved in with him, a period that saw laughter echo through their home as they navigated life together. His daughter remembers the compassionate gesture when he relocated her from her dorm during her freshman year; it was a moment of unexpected support and warmth. These stories resonate with the essence of who Charles was—a protector, a guide, and a beacon of love.

As we gather to honor the life of Charles Leon Brembry Sr., his strategies in life, love for family, and ability to make each moment count shall inspire and unite us.
