CHARLES ADAMS

June 7, 1949 — February 18, 2022

On June 7, 1949, in Drane, Texas, Rod Adams and Leona Townsel-Adams welcomed their second son, Charles Irving Adams. Charles was a beloved brother to Vergie Brown (Willie). His parents and oldest sister preceded him in death. Leaving to mourn his passing, siblings Rod Adams IV (Shirley)of Arlington, Texas and Cynthia Denice McDonald of Corsicana, Texas. His love for Christ and service to others were nurtured through the Love Chapel Baptist Church under Pastor H.W. Weathers. Deacon Adams attended Corsicana Public Schools and graduated from G.W. Jackson High School where he was a star defensive player all four years.

He later attended Bishop College, and eventually joined The United States Navy, specializing in aeronautics. Upon completion of his service to our country, he began guiding and mentoring young people at The Corsicana State Home of The Texas Youth Commission. Deacon Adams was recognized by the State of Texas for devoted, loyal and faithful service to the youth of Texas. He continued to supervise youth through the Commission at Dallas House for eighteen years.

While working for The Texas Youth Commission in Corsicana, God brought him to the love of his life, his future wife, Nina Adams. During their 39 years of marriage, they were doubly blessed with twins: Charles II(Brittney) and Christin Elizabeth. His two heartbeats, granddaughters Alivia and Madelyn, brought special joy to his life.

As a family, Deacon Adams and Nina joined The Ebenezer Memorial Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. A. D. Smith; he wholeheartedly began actively serving as member of The Men’s Ministry, Sunday School, and devoted Deacon-in-Charge of The Women’s Ministry. He truly loved his Pastor and Church.

He culminated his career at Dallas Independent School District as police/security officer. Upon retirement, Deacon Adams became a building and landscape entrepreneur, specializing in fences, landscaping and acreage mowing. He received the greatest peace and serenity on his tractor and in farming. Deacon Adams will be cherished as a model and loving husband, exemplary father, and kind and generous spirit. His willingness to help still inspires many to serve.

Devoted family members who celebrate his cherished memory: Samuel McClendon (Cassandra),William McClendon (Sheeka), Josh McClendon, Special Sister-n-law, Rachel McClendon, a wonderful host of heaven sent family, extended family members (Charles and Curtis McHenry), friends, and former co-workers.
