CHARLES RAY WEST

Charles Ray West, born on February 9, 1956, in the heart of Waxahachie, Texas, transcended this earthly realm on November 29, 2024, leaving behind a legacy woven with hard work, love, and unwavering commitment to family and friends. He was a proud graduate of Wilmer Hutchins High School, whose journey commenced with courage and dedication as he enlisted in the U.S. Army after graduation. His military service laid the foundation for a life steeped in discipline and resilience.

In his professional life, Charles carved out a career that reflected his resourceful spirit. Initially known as a handyman, he later took on a pivotal role at the VA Hospital, where he dedicated himself to maintenance, ensuring that the place honored those who served. His hands, calloused from hard work, were also gentle when it came to family, nurturing and supporting them through life’s ever-changing tides.

Charles leaves behind a tapestry of love, stitched together by the lives of those who cherished him. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Albertina Andrews, who carries forward his strength and values. His sisters Linda West, Willie Margaret Williams, and his brothers Tommie, Bill, and Roy Lee West, aunt, Maggie Chapman, hold his memory close, sharing stories and laughter in his honor. The family extends into the next generation, graced by one grandchild, and a myriad of nieces, nephews, and relatives whose lives he enriched with his laughter and wisdom.

He now joins his deceased family members in eternal rest: his father, Tom West, and his mother, Mae Pearl West, as well as his sisters Brenda West, Barbara Mayfield, Lillie Mae Thomas, Ann Owens, Pearl Wilkins, and brother Jim Henry West. Together, they embrace him in a reunion filled with love and remembrance.

A solemn farewell is planned with a funeral service on December 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM, held at Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas. This moment will be a time for family and friends to honor Charles’s remarkable life and the indelible mark he leaves on their hearts.
