Christy Lynn Williams was born August 19, 1977 to Anthony Bishop and Mae Williams in Blue Island, IL. Christy attended King Elementary in Harvey, IL, Brooks Junior High in Harvey, IL and graduated from Rich East High School in Park Forest, IL.
Christy was joined in holy matrimony with Richard Strong on May 7, 2005. God blessed them with two beautiful daughters, Rachel and Raven. She worked in Kankakee, IL at Shapiro Development for 16 years as a Mental Health Technician.
Christy relocated to Texas in 2016. She decided to pursue a different field and became a bus driver for Dallas County now DISD. Christy loved working with children and loved her co-workers/family. She was well known for her BIG BEAUTIFUL SMILE and pinching her co-workers/family. Everyone started to see that beautiful smile fade away when she was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer (stage 2) in January 2019. She did everything she was supposed to like a soldier and beat breast cancer. We called it “Christy’s Testimony”.
Christy rededicated her life to Christ at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas, TX on February 23, 2020.One years after her battle the cancer returned to her lungs. She was devasted once again. She was tired and didn’t have the strength to fight anymore, that’s when her co-workers along with her family did a Surprise Bus Thru Cancer Parade on October 31, 2020 (SmashTopic/ChristyWilliams). With so much love from everyone it put her back on track to fight.
On December 12, 2020, the Lord called Christy home to be with her father, Anthony Bishop; uncle, Capt. Albert Williams; aunts, Pauline and Evelyn Williams; goddaughter, Neriya Curtis and a lot of other family and friends.
Christy leaves to cherish fond memories with her daughters, Rachel and Raven; loving mother, Mae Williams; brother, Renard (Tracy) Williams; sister, Alshadar (Lucius) Evans; uncle, Rev. Elbert (Helen) Williams; aunts, Armedia Parham, Jacqueline Williams; nieces, Brianna Brittany and Bianca; nephews, Rayquan, Rico and Lucius Jr.; and a host of cousins and friends.
