Claude Pointer was born to Jesse Pointer and Gladys Akes-Pointer in Arlington, Texas on August 16, 1926.
As a young man, Claude served in the United States Army and was stationed in California. After military service, he was employed by Comet Cleaners for more than 20 years in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. As Lead Presser, Claude traveled throughout the United States to train other Comet employees. He later operated his own dry cleaning business for several years in Irving, Texas before semi-retiring to work for Frontier and Southwest Airlines.
An avid golfer, Claude had a passion and love for the sport. He attended and played in tournaments around the country. He regularly golfed for recreation until his health prevented him from doing so.
He died in Arlington, Texas on July 30, 2016, just weeks short of his 90th birthday. He gave his life to Christ at a young age and re-committed his faith in 2005.
Claude had 10 brothers and sisters. Left behind to miss him greatly are Alice Marie King-Pointer, his wife of 55 years. His sister, Lorie Pointer-Randle (Mike) and six children â Jerry Pointer (who recently died on August 7, 2016), Charlesetta Pointer-Ilegbodu (Fred), Danny Wilson, Rozenda Sneed, Larry Kirk Pointer and Claudia Pointer.
Others are his 16 grandchildren â Marilyn, Jeff & LaJuana Pointer; Jason & Jeff Ilegbodu; Altonette, Tomasina & Daniel Wilson; Claudette Pointer, Darwin Tyler, Steven Sneed, Mickey Hernandez; Darius Pointer, and Joel, Jacob & Joshua Branch; and several great & great great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.
