David Scott Coleman Sr. passed away in Dallas on January 9, 2022, at the age of 89. He was born to Rufus Coleman Sr. and Trina White, on April 18, 1932, in Caldwell, Texas. He also had an older brother named Rufus and a younger brother named Albert.
He served in the Army from 1953 to 1965 including time as an artilleryman during the Korean War. He married Bobbie Jean Coleman who preceded in death in 1994. He was a loving husband and devoted father. He was deeply involved with the local Baptist church community.
He often performed with a choir quartet at churches around Dallas. He held a deep and inspiring love of knowledge. He was an avid reader and lover of sports.
He loved long walks and exploring with a routine that everyone in West Dallas could follow like clockwork.
He leaves behind his son, David Coleman Jr. of Dallas, his son Edward Coleman of Dallas, his daughter Bobbie Coleman of Dallas and his stepdaughter Lou Rita Jones of Gilmer. He was preceded in death by his two sons, Ricky and Dexter Coleman, both of Dallas.
As well as his nephew Dennis Coleman of Irving and his wife Lesa and his niece Debra Ross.
He also leaves behind grandchildren including Rufus Coleman of Carrollton, Michael Coleman of Dallas, Teresa Lee of Dallas, Dearon Coleman of Dallas. Dr. Alan Coleman of Wichita Falls, Christie and Elizabeth Coleman of Denton, Emanual Coleman of Dallas.
He also leaves behind great-grandchildren including Rodney, Keiontay, Travion, Devonta and Dominiqua, all of Dallas as well as other family not listed above.
