In the summer of 1969, on Saturday, August 2, Helen (Randall) Davis and Willie Dean welcomed their third child, Demetrius “Meechie” (Randall) Harvey to the world. Sucking her thumb with a beautiful smile was this pretty little girl with black curly hair. No matter what her mother tried (like hot sauce), Meechie would always suck her thumb.
As a small child she loved the Lord. She would get up early every Sunday morning and walk to church by herself. She would come home with her clothes and hair wet and say she was baptized. She came home several Sundays wet. She wanted to make sure that she was going to heaven.
Meechie was fun, free-spirited, a go-getter, a fighter, beautiful, kind-hearted, caring, generous and loving. She would feed you and give you the shirt off her back. She was full of love to give and only wanted to be loved in return. She fought her last fight at 10:05 p.m., on May 11, 2018.
Meechie, may you rest in peace. The battle is not yours, it’s the Lord’s.
Demetrius is preceded in death by her eldest sister, Leatha Randall; her beloved mother, Helen Davis; and her younger brother, Harold Davis, Jr.
Demetrius leaves to cherish her memories three daughters, Shyhede (Randall) Kendrick, Sheena Johnson and Sterisa Harvey; two sisters, Lisa Randall and Rachel Randall; six grandchildren; eight nieces; one nephew; three uncles; father; grandmother; and a host of cousins, friends and relatives from Los Angeles, CA to Dallas, TX.
