Derrick Eugene Dixon, age 52, died peacefully on November 2, 2021, in Mesquite, Texas after years of heart complications.
Derrick was born on May 25, 1969, in Dallas, Texas to Joyce D. McArthur and Samuel Dixon. He attended Wilmer Hutchins High School in 1988. Derrick later continued his education in nursing school. After graduating, he served as a nurse for 10 years. He was also able to fulfill one of his many passions, becoming a football player for different arena football teams. He enjoyed singing at clubs and dancing. Derrick also loved writing books, better known as Fat Derrick Hood Books. Derrick was a member at St. Paul Baptist Church, where he served on the usher board.
He is survived by his wife, Veronica Green-Dixon; his children: Derrick Dixon Jr., Wendy, Chauncee Dixon, Keona Rollerson, Treona Rollerson, Dariah Green-Dixon, Derrius Green-Dixon, Dawson Green-Dixon, Faysia Green, and Falesha Green; his mother, Joyce McArthur and Leon McArthur; his brothers and sister, Samuel Dixon Jr., Cedric Dixon, and Karla Dixon; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Dixon, and his sister, Tracy Dixon.
