DORIS HARRIS

March 5, 1949 — July 8, 2022

Doris Gurst Harris, 73, of DeSoto, Texas, died July 8, 2022, after a long illness.

She was born March 5, 1949, in Biloxi, Mississippi, the daughter of Audrey Williams. She and her younger siblings grew up on air force bases in Europe and the southern United States.

Doris graduated from University of Minnesota with a degree in Child Psychology and Black Studies in 1975. She later completed the Lutheran Seminary Program of the Southwest in Austin, TX with a Master of Divinity in 1990.

She was an educator, a chaplain, and a Lutheran pastor, touching many lives in these career fields and making a difference in everyone she worked with.

Doris loved traveling and enjoyed visiting countries all over the world. She celebrated life with passion and had a heart for service to others.

She is survived by her son Desmond Dupree of DeSoto, TX; mother Audrey Williams of Minneapolis, MN; sister Jean Williams of Minneapolis, MN; brother Michael Williams of Minneapolis, MN; and many more relatives and beloved friends.

Doris was preceded in death by her daughter Ayanna Marie Dupree and her husband Willie Eugene Harris.
