Dorothy Ladell Cratic was born August 28, 1954 in Hillsboro, Texas to Henry Cratic Sr. and Bennie Cratic. She was one of four children and the first daughter born to that union.
In 1954, the family moved to Wichita, Kansas where Dorothy attended elementary school and North High School. Later, Dorothy met Sylvester Brown and gave birth to her one and only daughter LaShonia Brown also known as “Wink-A-Dink” and her first born son, Sylvester Brown Jr. Years later, she met Paul Brown and gave birth to her second son, Mario Brown also known as “Fatcat.” After many years in Kansas, Dorothy decided to pack up and move to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and then on to Dallas, Texas where she resided for over 20 years.

Dorothy loved her family and would do all she needed to see that they were cared for. It didn’t matter whether she gave birth to them or not. If they were family, she would do what was needed as she did by raising two of her sister’s children, Antonio and Thashika Peppers as her own. Family, loved ones and friends called her Mama, Mama Dot, Granny, Aunt Dot, Ms. Dot and Mother Cratic.

While in Dallas, Dorothy worked in customer service at American Express and Silverleaf Resorts in the mid 80s to early 90s. She later worked for Two Podners Inc. as a shift manager from 1995 to 1997.

Her faith as a believer grew stronger in the late 90s as her life made a slight shift due to health reasons. However, that did not stop her from doing what she wanted to do for the love of God. She later united with Baldwin Deliverance Tabernacle Church on
January 20, 2013, where she was a devoted member and sang in the choir. When she became homebound, she would use social media as her form of communication to family and friends as she would always post comments about the Cleveland Cavaliers and her “Lebron James” during NBA season.

On June 6, 2016, God saw fit to call her to the time of transition from her earthly home to join friends and loved ones seated around His glorious throne. She is preceded in passing by her father Henry Cratic Sr., brother Henry Cratic Jr., and her son Sylvester Brown Jr. She leaves to cherish loving memories to her daughter LaShonia Brown-Bagley (Steven), son Mario Brown Sr.(Mildred), her loving mother Bennie Bullock, sisters Sheila Officer, Cheryl Cratic, Anita Parker, Lynda Roberts (like a sister/best friend) and only living brother, Gary Jackson Sr. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Steven Bagley Jr., Shontria Bagley, Antwanette Brown, Mario Brown Jr., a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
