In loving memory of Dwayne Lynn Gardner, affectionately known as Danny Boy/Danny, who peacefully departed this world on January 17, 2024. Born on August 22, 1953, in Gilmer, TX, Preceded in death by his beloved parents, Bennie Jean Sirls and Roscoe Gardner. However, he was raised by Maude Gardner, his grandmother, whom he affectionally referred to as “Mother.” Dwayne earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science with a minor in History from Jarvis Christian College. His professional journey led him to serve as an Accountant at Upshur Rural for many years, later contributing his skills at the Longview Mall and Walmart, where he cultivated lasting friendships.
Dwayne’s passion for knowledge extended to reading non-fiction books, particularly those about Egyptians, the Old West, and Native American history. Dwayne's expressive spirit found an outlet in writing, filling up 12 composition books, and a lover of trivia games. Additionally, he held a deep appreciation for James Brown, emulating the legendary artist's dance moves with remarkable skill. He loved engaging in conversations and joking around. His witty sense of humor echoed through the lives of everyone who was acquainted with him.
Dwayne is survived by his sisters: Lazonda Gardner, Zerlinda Gardner, and Modena Meeks, [who dedicated time from their daily routines to provide him with attentive care during his final days]. He also leaves behind many other cherished loved ones.
We remember Dwayne not only for the lives he touched but also for his unwavering spirit. A gathering to celebrate his life will be held, inviting all to reminisce and find solace in shared memories.
Rest in peace, Dwayne — your spirit will live in our hearts.
