Ellouise (Coleman) Roquemore departed this earth on Saturday, December 18, 2021 in Dallas, TX,
Ellouise was born in Jacksonville, TX on September 7, 1944 to Willie Mae and M. C. Coleman. She graduated from Burnett High School in 1961.
Her marriage to Charles Miller Sr in 1962 produced three children, Tracey (Miller-Johnson), Rodney Miller and Charles Miller Jr. Tracey and Charles preceded her in death. Her 1972 union to Earl Rhodes III produced her fourth, and youngest child, Regina Rhodes. Ellouise married Clarence Roquemore in 1980. Clarence preceded her in death.
Ellouise worked for the City of Dallas in various armed and civilian roles for 26 years and also dedicated 10 years of her professional life to the State of Texas Comptroller's Office.
Ellouise was a faithful member of Greater Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church for more than 30 years where she was on the Usher Board and also served as Head of Women's Ministries. Later, she was a founding member of The Church of Love where she served as Head of Finance. Her favorite Bible verse was John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life” (NKJV). Ellouise was an avid reader of God’s word all of her life.
Ellouise was preceded in death by her parents, her oldest daughter, two husbands, three sisters, Robbye Hardge, Gay Nell Day, Bobbie Johnson, and one brother, Thurman Coleman.
Ellouise leaves to cherish her memory, three children, Charles Miller Jr (Natasha) of Seagoville, TX, Rodney Miller of Dallas, TX and Regina Rhodes of Pearland, TX; one sister, Lois Maxine Anderson, four grandchildren, Ronnie Miller, Kenneth Johnson (Marisela), Rodney Robison, and R. Danielle Robison; and four great-grandchildren, Karina Johnson, Roniyah Miller, Savanah Johnson and Kenneth “KJ” Johnson Jr; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Ellouise’s bold and loving spirit will be missed by all those who had the pleasure to get to know her. She was a natural truth-teller and had a way of speaking her mind that was endearing. She also loved to shop and travel. It didn’t matter if it was by boat, plane or car. If you were lucky enough to catch her at home in Dallas, TX, you might find her at church or enjoying time with family and friends.
Heaven has gained a wonderful and brilliant star! Our world is forever changed now that Ellouise’s light no longer shines on us directly, but rather from above. We miss you, Mama, and will hold you eternally in our hearts!
In lieu of flowers, the family of Ellouise Coleman Roquemore asks that you make a donation to www.lovetotherescue.org OR share her favorite Bible verse with others OR simply say a prayer for the good health and safekeeping of those around you. Be well!
