EMMITT GEORGE

December 5, 1942 — July 17, 2024

Emmitt George, passed away on July 17, 2024, in Forney, TX peacefully surrounded by family and friends. Born on December 5, 1942, in Wisner, LA, Emmitt lived a life filled with laughter, service, compassion, and dedication.

Emmitt grew up in the small rural town of Wisner with his six younger brothers and sisters. As the oldest child, he was responsible for taking care of his siblings from an early age. Although they didn’t have much, Emmitt always understood the importance of education. After graduating high school he left Wisner with his best friend Freeman to Dallas, Tx. It was in Dallas that he would meet the love of his life, Carol Jean Webb. It was impeccable timing because he was soon drafted in the Vietnam War. They were soon married and in 1966 he was enlisted in the U.S. Army. Emmitt first served as a medic and moved on to become a nurse. After serving in the Army for 26 years he was honorably discharged with full honors. The next chapter in his life was serving as a paramedic as a civil servant in Ft. Eustis, Va. The George family made Newport News, Virginia their home for 30 years. Emmitt served as a Deacon in his church for many of those years. After 11 years of tireless dedication and service to his country and community he retired as a civil servant. His commitment to helping others and making a difference in his community was truly inspiring. Known for his gentle and patient demeanor, Emmitt touched the lives of many through his selfless actions and kind words. Fulfilling his dream, Emmitt and Carol moved back to his favorite city, Dallas, Tx.

Outside of his professional life, Emmitt was a passionate Dallas Cowboys fan. While stationed in Ft. Dix, NJ, he gained a love for chess and history. He was celebrated as a racquetball champion, winning over 40 tournaments in New Jersey, Oklahoma and Virginia. His competitive spirit and strategic mind were evident not only in his hobbies but also in his approach to life. Emmitt loved music, dancing, family, friends and he had an amazing laugh that could fill any size room. He loved to watch westerns on TV every afternoon. Always current, he loved Taylor Swift (a total Swiftie), Ariana Grande, Bobby Womack, Johnny Taylor, gospel and a major Michael Jackson fan. But family was always number one, he would visit Wisner, Louisiana and Dallas, Texas throughout his life as often as possible. Finally settling in Forney, Tx.

Survived by his wife Carol Jean George, daughters Jacqueline Bowman (Sacramento,CA), Chinita George (Mesquite, TX), sons Kataris George (Cee Cee), (Desoto,TX), Emmitt George (Jersey City, NJ); sisters Nealia Richard (Monroe, LA) and Charlotte Ann Palmer (Houston, TX), grandchildren, Aisha Parker, Joseph Bowman, Naomi Washington, David Bowman, Tenesha George, Bria Tucker, Jenise Stockes, Aniya George, Maeve George and nine great grandchildren. Emmitt is preceded in death by his mother Ethyl (Muck) Richard, father Charlie George, brothers Jesse Wilford, Sherwood Richard, Riley Richard and Russell Richard. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, integrity, and perseverance that will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Emmitt George's presence will be greatly missed, but his memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with this remarkable individual.
