Eric Demmon Townsend entered this world in Dallas, Texas, February 18, 1973, on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. He was already a shining star in the Townsend Family. He was his mother's firstborn, his grandmother's first grandchild and his uncles' first nephew. So naturally they doted on him. He was a bright and happy child. This “happy” nature resonated throughout his lifetime.
He accepted Christ at the early age of 8 and became a member of the Good Street Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. C.A.W. Clark, Sr. There were many ministries in which he participated, namely, Sunday School, Junior Ushers, Vacation Bible School and the Good Street Boy Scout Troup.
He began his educational journey at the Good Street Day Care Center. From there, he attended Saint Anthony's Catholic School. This is when he was affectionately given the moniker, "E.T.". This nickname was a signature of his personality. He furthered his educational journey to complete his high school education by attending Bishop Dunne Catholic High School. He excelled in Sports. He lettered in Football, Basketball and Track. He developed lifetime friendships at Bishop Dunne. He attended Prairie View A & M University.
After leaving Prairie View, he began gainful employment with the United States Postal Service which lasted for over a decade. He was always an avid lover of music. He began to Disc Jockey for his friends' special social events. He was sought after citywide. He was in such high demand that soon this became his “calling”. He serviced many establishments, to name a few, the Legends Club, Kliff Klub, Billy Gee's 609, Club 292 and Gold Rush. He had a very charismatic and humorous personality. People were drawn to him. He loved people and they loved him.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Virgel and Minnie Townsend, his uncles Horace and Phillips Townsend.
He leaves to cherish beautiful, sweet and loving memories: his devoted mother, Sandra Jean Townsend; his diligent uncle, Louis (Wanda) Townsend; his sweet aunt, Hester Townsend Whitaker (Claude) Houston TX; his faithful cousins, Hollie and Ralan Townsend of Houston, TX; a host of other relatives and many, many loving and good friends.
