Essie Tidline was born November 4, 1939, in Pilot Point, Texas to the parentage of Vernon and Hazel Johnson. She attended Washington public school in Pilot Point, Texas as an adolescent. Later Essie attended Fred Moore school in Denton, Texas, where she graduated from high school in 1958. Shortly after graduation, Essie moved to Dallas, Texas. She married her life-long sweetheart (Billy) in 1962.
Essie accepted Christ at a very young age and attended County Line Baptist Church, Pilot Point, Texas. Later in life, she attended Bible Temple Christian Center Church under the leadership of Pastor James Harris until her health begin fail.
Essie retired from Texas Instruments (T.I.) after 32 years of dedicated service.
Essie’s home was a safe-haven for many family and friends. Some that had no place to go. For her younger siblings, she would open-up her home to them and helped each and every one to get a start in life. She has been a loving, supportive wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grand mother, and friend. What a big heart she has. She loved her family.
Essie was preceded in death by: her husband, Billy Tidline, father, Vernon Johnson, mother, Hazel Johnson, eldest son, Kevin Ward, brothers Vernon Johnson, Jr., Mozell Johnson, Bobby Johnson, and Anthony Johnson, Sr., and sister, Ruby Robertson.
Essie leaves to cherish her beautiful memories: her children; Chanda Williams, Shari Williams, of Dallas, Texas, and Steve Ward (Charlie) of Garland, Texas. Her siblings; Willie P. Johnson, Ester (E.L.) Johnson, Bertran Johnson, Benny Johnson, all of Dallas, Texas, Marilyn Johnson, of Carrollton, Texas, Cynthia Haskins (JP), of Sanger Texas, Debra Kuykendall of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Vanessa Johnson of Dallas, Texas, grand-children, Tenisha Williams, Chance Ward, Demetrise Ward, Tracy Eldridge, Damon Ward, Charlene Smith, Stephanie Ward; great-grandchildren J’Coryon Rivers, D’mya Ward, Ayden Simpson, Zayden Simpson, Hollies Ward, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
