From a young age, Evelyn’s passion was cooking and she was blessed to do this thing she loved for a living. She was employed with Dallas Independent School District in Food & Child Nutrition Services in every capacity concluding her tenue as a manager. Evelyn was so highly skilled in her positon, she begin to train/mentor other managers. She was also the go to person for the opening of new schools and upgrading of failing schools. Evelyn was able to display these talents until her retirement after 38 years of service.
Evelyn was known for her great smile, honesty, and friendliness. She had a great way of connecting with people, so she never met a “stranger” as every individual connected with her in some way. She was a true matriarch, as family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors sought out her guidance through life challenges. Evelyn’s home, neighbors, and yard/plants were very important to her. Her home was her castle with no wall untouched; her neighbors were extended family who relied on each other, and her yard/plants were her “other” babies.
Evelyn was an amazingly strong and resilient individual. Although she endured many major crisis within her 78 years of life, she chose to focus on the brighter day after. That brighter day usually included a conversation, good music, and a great meal to follow.
