FLOYD JEROME VESSELS

August 17, 1960 — September 29, 2024

Floyd Jerome Vessels, a beloved figure whose spirit resonated with warmth and kindness, passed away on September 29, 2024. Born on August 17, 1960, Floyd faced the world with his presence, becoming an indelible force in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

A family-oriented man, Floyd’s life was a testament to the bonds of love and care he treasured most. He was a steadfast protector and provider for his wife, Marilyn, with whom he shared countless memories, including his lovely ritual of bringing her flowers—each bloom a reflection of his affection. Together, they built a life filled with laughter and devotion that laid the foundation for a close-knit family.  He stood on favorite scriptures Proverbs 3:5-6.

As a father, his heart swelled with pride for his daughter, Katisha, and the joy he found in raising his grandson, Ayden, was immeasurable. His love extended boundlessly to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, a legacy of cherished moments that each will hold dear as they remember the love their grandfather and uncle shared.

Floyd embodied a down-to-earth personality; he never met a stranger and fostered friendships with the ease of a gentle breeze. His generous spirit and engaging manner made everyone feel seen and appreciated, transforming casual acquaintances into lifelong friends. In every sense of the word, Floyd was everyone's friend.

In addition to being a devoted family man, Floyd was exceptionally gifted in sports; his remarkable ability as a baseball pitcher was admired by many. Moreover, he reveled in the excitement of basketball and football, proudly proclaiming his allegiance to the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Knicks. Away from the sporting fields, he found enjoyment in landscaping, grilling delicious meals, and occasionally testing his luck at the casino—activities he pursued with passion and flair.

Floyd served his country in the Army, a commitment that showcased his courage and determination. His proudest accomplishments include not only the love and support he gave to his family but also the dream realized when he bought a home for Marilyn—a sanctuary filled with laughter, harmony, and love.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Floyd’s extraordinary life. A viewing will take place on October 15, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas. A celebration of life will follow on October 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM, culminating with burial services at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at 2:00 PM.

In the hearts of all who loved him, Floyd Jerome Vessels will forever shine brightly, a beacon of love, laughter, and unwavering loyalty. His legacy will endure in the smiles of his family and the memories crafted in those shared moments that will live on in their hearts.
