On Sunday, December 10, 2023, Diane “Frankie” Calicutt, a loving mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away at the age of 70 at Carrollton Regional Medical Center in Carrollton, TX.
Diane was born on Saturday, May 9, 1953, in Lamesa, TX , and was the fifth child of nine children, born to her beloved parents Mattie Lou and Morris Calicutt.
Diane was a school bus driver for over 30 years. For the last four years, Diane drove for Wylie Independent School District. She loved her school bus babies and her bus barn family.
Diane was an amazingly strong mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she loved all her nieces, nephews, siblings, family, and friends whom she loved as family.
Diane was best known for her fierce and very sassy personality! She also loved to sing and dance to the blues. Diane was known to be a gambler at heart who knew how to have a great time at the casinos all night long.
Diane was very strong in her faith and loved the Lord. During any challenging times, Diane would always say “Let go and let God!” Diane was also known to be a very selfless woman who was willing to help anyone in need.
During her battle with cancer, Diane was very passionate and determined to get back to her school bus babies. She was not only a loving, God-fearing woman, but anyone who knew Diane knew that she was a true fighter. She kicked cancer's BUTT and became a cancer survivor!
Diane will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her daughter: Tonia (Nathan) Hobbs, and son, James (Chantelle) Hobbs; grandchildren: Tezra (Adam) Moore, Tierra (AJ) Ervin, Kennedy Hobbs, Jasmine Hobbs, Samantha Sharp, Samaj Hobbs; great-grandchild: Jr.; siblings: Tommy Lee Jones, Morris Calicutt, Willie Davis, Mattie Davis-Smiley; significant other: George Hutchins.
She is preceded in death by her father: Morris Calicutt; mother: Mattie Lou Davis; and siblings: Walter Jones, Barbara Cooper, Chevel Wright, and Brenda Fuller.
