Geneva Elizabeth Fields

Geneva Elizabeth Fields was born July 19, 1938 in Waskom, TX to the parentage of the late Simmie and Vera Vance. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in Elysian Fields, TX.

She was united in Holy matrimony to Ben Fields on August 2, 1962, who preceded her in death.

She worked for Ann Kaley for seven years as a single needle operator. She later went on to pursue studies in Europe and earned a degree in Fashion Merchandise. She was a sewing instructor and taught classes for several years and ultimately used her gifts to establish her own tailoring business, and was an extremely talented and highly sought after personal seamstress. She also worked in the healthcare system and loved taking care of others.

She attended New Friendship Baptist Church where she was a faithful and dedicated member. She served as a second Vice President of the General Mission, Sunday School Teacher, Deaconess and President of the Friendship Circle. She loved working with the primary Sunday school classes and attending bible study and prayer meetings.

She loved spending time with her children and family, cooking (and most importantly eating), shopping, and traveling. She loved to laugh and make others smile (especially through her storytelling), and made it her mission to help those less fortunate than her.

She was preceded in death by her son Gregory D. Hill Sr., sister Ruby Arthur, brothers Charles, McArthur, Bobby Vance Sr., and her parents. She leaves to celebrate her life memories: three sons, Michael Hill Sr. (Kim) of California, Frederick Hill Sr. of Dallas and Quenton Hill Sr. (Bettye) of Lancaster; one sister Gladys Stephens of Dallas, four granddaughters, sixteen grandsons, forty-four great grandchildren, one great-great grandson and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
