George Vincent Allen, a beloved father, friend, and consummate truck driver, took his final journey on September 9, 2024, in Lancaster, Texas. Born on December 15, 1937, in the small, vibrant town of Henderson, North Carolina, George lived a life overflowing with laughter and connection, touching the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
Throughout his life, George embodied a spirit of joy, making it his mission to bring smiles to the faces of those around him. With a quick wit and a penchant for humor, he had an uncanny ability to lighten any conversation. From family gatherings to casual meet-ups with friends, George was never without his trademark jokester charm, always ready to sprinkle nicknames generously over loved ones, creating a tapestry of affection woven with laughter.
As a truck driver, George navigated the open roads, but it was in the company of people that he truly thrived—never meeting a stranger, he engaged in every conversation with genuine enthusiasm. Those moments behind the wheel were often punctuated by the melody of a well-told story or a hearty laugh shared with fellow travelers, whether through the crackling clarity of a CB radio or face-to-face at rest stops along the way.
George's hobbies mirrored his love for camaraderie; he found joy in gathering with friends to play cards or dominoes, fostering bonds over casual games and spirited debates. His passion extended beyond board games; an ardent fan of his teams, he spent many weekends watching the Duke basketball games, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the spirited local Dallas high school games, cheering loudly as if every victory were his own.
George had a poetic relationship with life—he drew joy from the simple pleasures such as "Miller Time," savoring moments with both family and friends, sharing stories over cold drinks and heartfelt laughter. His proudest accomplishment, being a member of the 181 CB Club, was not just a badge of pride but a testament to the community and kinship he fostered. His love for listening to music also allowed him to do his James Brown split.
George leaves to mourn, wife of 40 years, Flora Allen, two stepdaughters, Robbie Brown and Natethrone Gindratt and three grandsons, Claude Gindratt, Marc Gindratt and Anthony Brown, III; granddaughter, Toni Brown; daughter, Darlene Allen; brother, Eugene Allen, and a host of other relatives, CB Clubs and friends in North Carolina and Texas
As we remember George Vincent Allen, we celebrate a man whose laughter will echo in our hearts forever. While he may have departed this life, his spirit will continue to inspire joy, reminding us all to find happiness in the company of others and to always cherish a good story. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and camaraderie that will not soon be forgotten.
