Gilbert B. Allen was born in Dallas, Texas, October 28, 1926 to the parentage of the late Dave Allen Sr. and Carrie Brown Allen. He was the youngest of five children Dave Allen Jr., James Allen Sr., Juanita Berry Hamilton and Laura Holloway, all preceded him in death.

He received his formal education in Dallas Public Schools and accepted Christ at an early age. He became a member of Willow Grove Baptist Church.

Shortly after High School he served in the United States Air Force for four years. Upon receiving an honorable discharge as a World War II veteran he entered into the ministry. It was during this time he met and married Minerva Jones and loved and raised her four sons.

Shortly after he became senior pastor of Galilee Baptist Church for two years and later fourteen years at Holy Temple church. He served as an Interim   Pastor of Bethlehem Christian Church (McKinney, Texas) from April 1996 until August 1997 and later as a member of Bethlehem Christian Church (McKinney, Texas) for 19 years where he served faithfully as an Associate Minister (1997-2016) until he was called home.

He leaves to cherish his memories five nieces Gwendolyn Brewer Cotton, Harriett Lacy (Joe), Judy Reeves (Ronny), Davetta Bryant (Groverton) and Joan Allen, all of Dallas and seven nephews Randy Roberts of Phoenix Az., Monte Berry (Charlotte), Olan Berry, Jr. and Louis Berry Sr. (Pamela) Lester Allen, Timothy Holloway all of Dallas and Joseph Johnson (Ella) of Bossier City, LA., and a longtime friend Steve Powell (Deena).  A host of great nieces and nephews, church members and friends.
