GLORIA MAE SLY, a beloved matriarch, was born on October 2, 1936, in Beaumont, Texas. She passed away peacefully on December 8, 2024, in Dallas, Texas. Gloria was known for her loving nature and spirited personality, leaving behind a legacy of and strength.
Gloria's life was characterized by her dedication to family. A fun-loving individual with a direct approach, she was fiercely protective of her children and grandchildren. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world, and she devoted herself wholeheartedly to their well-being and happiness. Those who knew her would often say, “Do not mess with her children or grandchildren,” underscoring the fierce love she had for her family.
In her leisure time, Gloria enjoyed playing cards, particularly Spades, which brought her joy and camaraderie with friends and family alike. She also had a passion for movies, with a special fondness for the film "The Temptations," showcasing her love for music and storytelling.
Her visitation will be held on December 13, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas, located at 4155 South R. L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75224. A wake service will follow at the same location, commencing at 7:15 PM and concluding at 8:15 PM.
Gloria's funeral service will take place on December 14, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Community Missionary Baptist Church, located at 115 West Belt Line Road, DeSoto, TX 75115.
