It is with great sadness that the children of Helen Cooper-Taylor announces her passing on Sunday June 10, 2018, at the age of 69 years. Our Mother was born June 13, 1948 to Eric Smith, Sr and Esther Mae Smith. She received her education from J.S. Clark High School. She was a Educator for many years in the Dallas Independent School District.
A loving mother and homemaker, Helen was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, most especially over the holidays. She had a wonderful smile that would light up any room. Helen loved life and helped so many people, rather it was family or friends she always had an open door policy, her home was your home.
Helen is survived by her two children, Carla Cooper-Haamid (Sibley II) and Clarence Cooper Jr.; two grandchildren Sibley Saahir Haamid IV and Christian Isaiah Cooper; three brothers Walter Smith (Joyce), Dave Smith, and Lynn Smith (Erica); one sister Marie Pitre (John); eighteen nieces; fifteen nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Lee Taylor, her parents Eric Smith Sr. and Esther Smith, her siblings Rose Carter, Eric Smith Jr., Cinderella Daniels, and Lily Shilo.
