On January 20, 1941, God allowed a special child to enter the world. Helen Lois Tennison, born in Ennis, Texas was the first of four siblings. Fun loving, fantastic, fabulous, and friendly! She always took charge of any situation she encountered. Her attributes included an easy-going personality, confidence, carefree, optimistic, courageous, enthusiastic, creative, humorous, and much more- a loyal friend.
Helen was taught Christian values at an early age where she gave her heart to God. Her spiritual fellowship began at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Dallas, Texas. Eventually she attended other churches including a longtime affiliation with Bethlehem Word Church (Dallas), under the leadership of Bishop Kenneth Mack, Sr. Her education began at St. Anthony’s Catholic School; she later attended public schools in the Dallas area.
Helen met and married the late Eddie Tennison who was known throughout the community as “Mr. Gentleman.” She then decided to leave the work force and become a full-time homemaker.
Helen’s passions included cooking, (an excellent cook), doing hair for others, arts and crafts, working puzzles, dancing, and most of all, traveling. Her travels included California, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Puerto Rico, Bahamas, Europe, and the Caribbean Islands.
Given her zest for life, Helen spread her wings and moved to Augusta, Georgia in 1990 and resided there for a period. In 1994, she relocated to Los Angeles and became a caregiver for her mother, until her death. In 2005, she was a caregiver for her brother until his passing.
“Yes” God gave Helen many talents and she used them proficiently.
On December 04, 2021, Helen Lois Tennison departed this life to be forever in eternity with the Lord. Helen was preceded in death by her mother Tommie Brown; husband Eddie Tennison; daughter Demetri Gail Tennison; grandson Reginald Tennison and brother Alfred Brown.
Helen leaves to cherish her loving memories; sons Victor Brown, Steven Tennison and Reginald Tennison of Atlanta, Georgia; daughter, Annette Eaglin (Donald) of Victorville, California; sisters, Barbara Barron of Apple Valley, California and Christine Armor of Compton, California; nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
