HERBERT FINNEY

Herbert W. Finney, Sr., was born on September 7, 1946, to the parentage of John and Trudie Finney.
Herbert accepted Christ at an early age at Hynson Chapel C.M.E. Church. In 1999, he joined the Pleasant
Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. A. C. Toney.

He attended Dunbar Elementary School in Winnsboro, Texas. After graduation, he attended and graduated
from W.B. Clark High School in Quitman, Texas, in 1964. In September 1964, he enrolled in Bishop College,
Dallas, Texas, and attended until he was drafted by the U.S. Army in April, 1967.

On July 23, 1966, he married his high school sweetheart, Amanda Darden. To this union, two children were
born.

Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, John and Trudie Finney, and his four older brothers, John Jr.,
Roy, Ira, and Birt.

He leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Amanda (52 yrs.); son, Herbert II; and daughter, Katrina; he also
leaves children, Cadelia Bennett (Elgene), Ashley Smith and Monte Spiller (Nikki); ten grandchildren; one
great-grandchild; one brother-in-law, Jerry Darden (Thelma); three sisters-in-law, Lillian Roberson, Billie
Finney and Eunice Finney; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
