HYRTICE CHOYCE

June 22, 1942 — January 10, 2021

Hyrtice Don Choyce was born June 22, 1942 in Kaufman, Texas to the parentage of Hyrtice DeVail and Verbena Choyce. He was lovingly and affectionately called “Don” by all who knew him. He received his early education in the public schools of Kaufman County. He was a high school graduate of Pyle High School and attended Prairie View A & M University. Don married his soulmate Joyce Marie Burton in May of 1963 and together, they were blessed with three children, Fredrick, Belenthia and Verbenia. Don answered the Lord’s call to preach the Gospel many years ago. He served well in various churches and later organized New True Vine Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. He was the true epitome of a servant and served faithfully as Pastor until God called him from labor to reward. Don loved spending time with his family. He had a passion for talking and sharing his wisdom through parables and story-telling. He was extremely skillful with his hands. He was a masterful artist, saxophonist and builder. Don enjoyed being outside gardening, fishing, hunting and absorbing God’s creation of nature. He was one of the proud owners of C & P Home Repairs and worked every day until he was no longer able to do so. Don is preceded in death by both birth parents, a step-mother and four sisters. He leaves to forever cherish his legacy: one son, Fredrick Burton (Candace); two daughters, Belenthia Epps (Oscar, Sr.) and Verbenia Cobbs (Earnest); five grandchildren, Sharod Choyce (Angel), Destany Epps-Manuel, Oscar Epps II, Aderius Epps (Victoria) and Starr Levingston; four great grandchildren, Desman Manuel, Aerington Epps, Aderius Epps II and Aeron Epps; three brothers, Herbert Choyce (Alma Dixon), Floyd Choyce and Hollis Lloyd (Melva); three sisters, Lee Helen Dixon, Sharlene Choyce and Helen Ruth Walton; a host of other
