James Strawder Jr., known affectionately to family and friends as “JR,” passed away on November 30, 2024. He was born on March 18, 2010, in Ocala, Florida, and was a vibrant soul whose zest for life touched all who knew him.
Residing in Forney, Texas, James was a cherished member of his family. He is survived by his loving mother, Heather Griffin (née Wilkins), and his father, Leonard Griffin Jr. He shared many joyful moments with his siblings: Don Young III, Ja'Myra Strawder, Skylah Strawder, Laylah Strawder, and Jakobian Griffin. He also fondly embraced his role as a big brother to his bonus brother, Thomas Cummins, and was an uncle to Kaliana Young and Don Young IV. James was blessed to have his Grandpa Wendell Wilkins and Grandma Charlene Lea, known affectionately as “Mema,” as well as uncles James Wilkins and Dustin Lea, aunt Crystal Lea, and godmother Carmen Ramos, all of whom provided him with love and guidance throughout his life. He left behind numerous cousins who will remember him fondly.
James's lively spirit was evident in his passions. He enjoyed playing football, immersing himself in video games, listening to music, and relishing the time spent with his family. He particularly loved wrestling with his siblings, creating delightful memories that will be cherished forever.
James was preceded in death by his uncle Carl Leapley and his grandma Clara Lea, both of whom will be remembered in the hearts of those he left behind.
A Wake Service in honor of James will be held on December 12, 2024, at Community Life Church in Forney, Texas, starting at 5:00 PM and concluding at 8:00 PM. His Funeral Service will follow the next day, December 13, 2024, beginning at 11:00 AM and ending at 12:00 PM. Both services will take place at the same location, at 204 Farm to Market Road 1641.
James Strawder Jr. leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever resonate in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives he touched.
