JANICE GODFREY

Janice Marie Godfrey, 67, died peacefully with her family by her side on January 5, 2021. She was born July 23, 1953, Janice Marie Harris, in Little Rock, Arkansas to Morris Connors and Helen Harris. Jan loved dancing and served as a majorette in the Jones High School marching band earning herself the nick name “High Stepper”. During high school she met her loving husband, Roy Lee Godfrey., and fell in love at first sight. Shortly after high school the two married and had their first set of children, daughter, Cynthia and son, Roy Jr. Roy Godfrey, Sr. (Pepper) and Janice (Jan) moved to Ohio where they had two more children, Keith and Rotonda. During 1987, they moved to Anchorage, Alaska and had Stacey and Tracey. They lived and raised their six (6) beautiful children in Anchorage Alaska and was happily married more than 30 years until the passing of Roy Lee Godfrey Sr. on September 23rd 2007. Jan was often shy and spoke softly however, when she had something to say you heard it! She was the oldest of her siblings and was the boss, we all knew it. She loved her family, cooking and kept an immaculate household. She lived a full life as a wonderful mother, homemaker, and care giver in the home health industry. She loved playing bingo, studying lottery numbers, cruising the town garage sale-ing where she often found treasures no one could appreciate but her. She cherished family gatherings where her family loved to eat and would fight over her Key-Lime pies. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. She is survived by her Mother, Helen Evans. (5) Sisters, Brenda Lewis, Brenda Echos, Shirley Collins, Linda Evans (KK), and Marcie Connors. (4) Brothers, Roosevelt Fletcher, Sr., Charles Evans, and Jerry Connors. Brother, Morris Connors Jr. (3) Sons, Roy Godfrey Jr., Keith Godfrey, and Stacey Godfrey. (2) Daughters, Rotonda Godfrey, and Tracey Godfrey. (10) Grandchildren, Samantha Smith, Iyana Godfrey, Keith Godfrey, Aviana Myers, Ke’omonie, KK Godfrey, Kylaisha Townsend, Stacey Godfrey, Mircale Marenah, Nivea Godfrey and Jamar Godfrey. (3) Great Grandchildren, Ava, Aleah, and Ariah Smith. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Roy Lee Godfrey, Sr. Daughter, Cynthia Godfrey; brothers, Roscoe Fletcher, Jr. and Marvin Connors.
