JO ANN POLK

    Jo Ann Lusk Polk, age 76, passed away on February 23, 2024 after a long battle with cancer. She was born on December20, 1947 in Ninevah, Texas to Jonathan Lusk and Phebie (Williams) Lusk. She graduated from Fredrick Douglas High School in 1966 and attended Prairie View A&M University. On August 31, 1968, she married her high school sweetheart Elmer James Polk. They had three children Gregory, Adrien, and Vincent. Jo Ann gave her life to the Lord. After Elmer retired from teh Army, they settled in Arlington, Texas, where she worked in sales and as a substitute teacher for Fort Worth ISD. 

   If you knew Jo Ann you know she never met an stranger. Everyone she met, she greeted them with her beautiful smile and room filling laugh. Wherever she went she shaed her love for the Lord with everyone and His light shined on her. While raising her children she always welcomed their friends into her home and they became her extended children. Many times she even invited children to move in and cared for them when needed. She truly lived the word of God in her walk on Earth. Jo Ann loved with her whole heart and forgave just as much. She was willing to help all of those in need and would give her last to help those in need. Jo Ann always shared the Godly wisdom she gained throughout all the years she served God. She was a prayer warrior for her family. 

    Jo Ann is preceded in death by her father, Jonathan Lusk, her mother Phebie Williams Lusk, her brother John Richards, two granddaughters Elaine Alvord and Addison Henry, and one grandson David Henry. 

    She will be missed by her family. She leaves behind: her husband Elmer James Polk, oldest son Gregory J. Polk, daughter Adrien Henry (Dwayne), youngest son Vincent Polk (Jamie) along with eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, a sister Ora Lee Jackson and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
