JOE ALVIN ROGERS, a beloved husband, father, and friend, left this world on October 6, 2024, in Tyler, Texas. Born on November 15, 1958, in the vibrant city of Houston, Texas, Joe lived a life that mirrored the vivid colors and diverse landscapes he so expertly sculpted as a knowledgeable landscaper. He was the embodiment of fun and outgoing spirit, filled with a rambunctious energy that lit up every room he entered.
His formal education in Houston equipped him with the skills and knowledge he would later apply to his thriving career in landscaping, where he fostered a deep connection with nature and his community. His stubbornness, although sometimes a challenge, was often seen as determination, driving him to create beauty in every project he undertook. He approached life with passion, leaving a lasting impact on both his work and the hearts of those he touched.
Joe is survived by his loving spouse, Sheila Pettigrew, who shared his journey and dreams. He leaves behind a devoted mother, Helen Marie Norris, along with siblings Ellis C. Rogers(Athina), Darrell Edward Rogers, Kelvin Bernard Rogers(Melissia), Gregory Kenneth Rogers(Pamela), and Carol Porchia(Anthony). Each of them carries the memories of Joe's laughter and goodbye hugs that forever reverberate in their hearts. His step-children, Shereta Overshown and Antonio Johnson, along with his cherished step-granddaughter, Serenity Hayward, can always recall Joe’s joyful spirit and his knack for storytelling that captivated everyone around him.
Joe's family extended to include sister-in-law Vasundra Tutt and brother-in-laws Rex Cicero and Bernard Cicero(Chalondra), who each felt the warmth of his camaraderie. A host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives cherish their memories of a man whose heart was as expansive as his dazzling gardens.
Though he was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Bridgette Yvette Rogers, the essence of Joe's spirit lives on in the stories that will be shared, the laughter that will echo in gatherings, and the love that binds this family together.
A viewing to celebrate Joe's vibrant life will be held on October 12, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas. Friends and loved ones will gather to share their remembrances of a man who painted the world with his love for life, leaving a legacy much like the landscapes he so tenderly nurtured. His memory will forever blossom in our hearts.
