On the seventh day, the Father rested knowing that all He had made was complete and perfect. On the seventh day of September at 7:13 AM, we took comfort in knowing that our mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother’s race was complete and just like the Father rested on the seventh day, she is now resting.

Johnnie Lee Vaughn was born March 3, 1934 in Malakoff, Texas. She accepted Christ at an early age, and as a child united with The Church of the Living God, Pillar and Ground of Truth. She was a member at the Transparent Church of Grand Prairie under the leadership of Pastor Author James. She remained faithful until her health failed her.

She was born to the late parentage of L. Z. McCurin and Manila Sanders as well as Henry Turner who played an important role in her life as a father figure. She attended school in Dallas ISD but later as an adult she received her GED at J.N. Ervin High School. She worked as a professional baker at Highland Park Cafeteria, The Apparel Mart of Dallas and the V.A. Hospital. She held other jobs along the way.

Preceding her in death are four sisters and other relatives.

She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Sharon Hodge, Garland, Texas; sons, Clyde Vaughn (Karen), DeSoto, Texas, James Vaughn (Lisa), DeSoto. Texas, step son, James Crawford, Dallas. Texas; 1 brother Henry Turner, 3 sisters, Zelma Williams (Bobby), Demetrice Smothers, Rhenita Rhodes all of Dallas, Texas; 5 grandchildren, TeLisa King (Sharlton), Alan Smith (Crystal) , Ashley Smith, April Carter, and Deandra Washington (Terry); 7 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
